Admission Information

Registration
To apply for enrollment, a completed Registration Form and Fee must be submitted to the school office before assessment and/or placement can be made.

Parent/Child Interview
A parent/child interview will be scheduled with a director after 3:00 P.M. on weekdays. The purpose of this meeting is to acquaint the family and the school prior to the child's assessment.

Child Assessment
Children are assessed during morning class sessions. Preschool applicants are assessed for approximately 30 minutes; elementary applicants are assessed 8:30 - 11:30 A.M. The assessments are intended to determine the child's readiness for school and to familiarize the child with the school surroundings. The director will complete an evaluation of the child and notify the parent/guardian.

Enrollment
Upon acceptance into The Dallas North Montessori School, a deposit equal to one month's tuition is required to ensure your child's space. The deposit will be applied toward the final tuition payment of the school year. The enrollment/deposit is non-refundable and will not be applied toward tuition unless the child has attended school for a minimum of four months. If no space is available at the time of acceptance, your child's name will be placed on the WAITING LIST.

Placement
Placement is done according to the following considerations:

  1. Available space
  2. Date of registration
  3. Sibling enrolled in school
  4. Past Montessori experience
  5. Need of each class to maintain balance relating to gender and age distribution

The following forms are required before the child can be admitted:

  • Tuition Contract
  • Health Record
  • Release Form
  • Personal History
  • Previous school records for elementary children
Orientation
The first month is considered a period of adjustment in order to determine if the school is a suitable environment for the child. If the child does not adapt well to the environment as outlined in the School Handbook, the remainder of the tuition will be refunded.

A conference with the director will be scheduled after the first month's attendance in order to complete the enrollment procedure.

An annual Parent Orientation meeting will be held in August of each new school year. All parents are encouraged to attend this meeting.

Your child may at first experience some anxiety about going to school. This is a normal reaction for some children. If you feel there is a problem, it would be best for you to smile assuredly, say good-bye and leave quickly. Your child's teacher will help him handle the situation from there. As your child becomes more familiar with the school environment, a sense of routine and order will occur.

The Dallas North Montessori School reserves the right to dismiss a child should it find that the parent is unable to follow the policies of the school or if deemed necessary for the harmonious functioning of the school. Permanent dismissal entails refunding that portion of school tuition prepaid and not yet used. Such refund applies only in the event that the school asks the student to leave.

Payment
Tuition payments are due on the first of each month beginning in August/September and continuing through April. Supply fees are due in full on the first day of school or on the first day the child enters class.

Tuition is considered late after the fifth of the month. A late charge of $15.00 will be automatically assessed. If tuition is not paid by the tenth, your child's space may be forfeited.

There is a $30.00 charge for all returned checks.
